March 19th Capitol Comments

Yet another week of this session is coming to an end. Each week has continued to bring new experiences and challenges and this week was not any exception. The pace and the length of each day continues to increase, and more bills from each of the ten committees are coming to the floor. In fact, we now have over 800 House bills. The amount of caucus time and debate of bills on the floor has consumed more of our daily schedule. Next week each committee will spend time on bills coming from the Senate while the Senate works on our House bills. The biggest new challenge will be the budget appropriations. Last Friday we received the estimates of the incoming revenue which we will use to develop the balanced state budget. This work will continue until the end of the session. Thank you for all who have attended the meetings around the district and the calls, emails, and mail I have received on your concerns and support.
Also, thank you to everyone who returned an input matters card. I will be looking at your choices and your comments as we continue to look at the budget and legislation.
